Norman Truax, 73, of Edinburg, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield IL.
Norman was born July 9, 1943 on the family farm in Edinburg, IL the son of Gordan and Elta Cook Truax.
He worked as a farmer in Edinburg for the majority of his life. He also spent many years with Fiat-Allis Manufacturing and Curry Ice and Coal. He had a passion for working on old cars, playing cards with family and friends, and watching his favorite football team, the Oakland Raiders.
Norman also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his two sons, Justin (Cielo) Truax of Edinburg, and Shawn (Robbie) Truax of Florida; four grandchildren, Kaetlyn Truax, Devin Truax, Sophia Truax, and Jhon Ocampo; one brother, Charles Truax of Edinburg; and one sister, Mary Thomas, formerly of Springfield, now of Petersburg.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the funeral home with Reverend Samuel Janssen officiating. Burial will follow at Edinburg Cemetery with military honors.
