Shirley M. Irvin, 81, of Jerome, died at 7:44 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center.

Shirley was born on May 19, 1935 in Alton, the daughter of the late Clifford and Bernice Enos.

She married Ralph D. Irvin on May 24, 1953 at Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton.  They shared over 56 years together until he preceded her in death on December 2, 2009.

Shirley worked at the Village of Jerome for 35 years.  During that time she was voted Village clerk.  After retiring she was elected Village Trustee, serving 4 years.

Survivors include one son, R. David Irvin of Jerome; one daughter, Sheila M. (Kerry) Grooms of NC; one granddaughter, Rebecca D. (Victor) Lee of Arlington, MA; one grandson, Ryann D. Irvin of East Hartford, CT; one brother, Clifford Randal Enos; three step grandchildren; and her four-legged companions, Gidget, Sugar and Gypsy.

At Shirley’s request, she will be cremated and no services will be held.  Her cremated remains will be buried at Valhalla Cemetery in Godfrey, IL beside her husband Ralph.
