Patty K. Chapman

Patty Kay Chapman, 72, formerly of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday May 31, 2023.

Patty was born and raised in Pleasant Plains, IL. She was born on January 12, 1951 to Leslie and Gertrude (Wheeler) Smith.

Patty worked for the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office for 18 years and then went on to work for the DNR, where she retired from years later.  

She was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was religious and would find peace and enjoyment reading the Bible. She also enjoyed singing and listening to music. Later in life, Patty enjoyed WII bowling with her kids and grandkids.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 5 brothers, including a beloved brother, Hank.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Lawrence; son, Erick Chapman (Shandi); sister, Linda Bullock (Larry); grandchildren, Jordan (Breigh), Brayden, Brody, and Avery; as well as, many Nieces, Nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 8, 2023 at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home (530 N. 5th St.) Springfield, IL from 11:00am till the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00noon. Patty will be laid to rest at Pleasant Plains Cemetery with her parents and her brother, Hank.
