Dorothy Evelyn Walters, 92, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Moweaqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Dorothy was born on May 11, 1926 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Charles and Stella Howard Kelly. She married Billy Lee Walters Sr. on September 17, 1949 in St. Louis; he preceded her in death on October 6, 2004.
Dorothy graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1942. She was a homemaker, a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed bowling and sewing.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah S. Murray; son, Gary W. Walters; great-grandson, Cody Wayne Ellis; great-granddaughter, Ivy Mae Walters; daughters-in-law, Robyn and Debbie Walters; and siblings, Roy, Joseph, Mildred, and Robert Kelly.
She is survived by sons, Roy Walters of Weaubleau, MO, Billy Lee (Brenda) Walters Jr. and Kevin Walters both of Springfield; daughters, Trudy Burris of Odessa, TX and Barbara (James) Langley of Cantrall; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private family services will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
