Carl Rowland Obituary

Carl Dean Rowland, 85, loving husband and father of three children, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at his home. Dean was born on September 30, 1935 in Benton, IL. He was an Army Veteran who worked at Fiat-Allis for 23 years until it closed, then went on to retire from the Federal Postal Service after 10 years of service. On December 15, 1956, he married his wife Deloris Dobrey. Dean was a devoted member of Rochester First Baptist Church. His faith and love of his family were central to his life. Dean had a passion for playing board games, watching westerns, and was always ready with a pocket full of peppermints. Dean will be remembered for his corny jokes and ready smile. He is survived by his two sons, Robert (Patty) and Samuel, his daughter, Pamela Floyd (Tony Boehme), three grandchildren, Jamie (Michael Gochanour), Taylor and Kelsey, and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Mila. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, at Rochester First Baptist Church, 305 State St., in Rochester from 9:30 until the time of the Memorial Service at 10:30 with Pastor Chris Vieth officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
