Isabel ("Izzie") F Jacobs

Isabel F. (“Izzie”) Jacobs, 82, of Springfield, Illinois passed over on September 11, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

Izzie was preceded in death by her parents, Ballard M. and Jessie L. Harden, siblings Richard “Wes” Harden, Demiguy “Hutch” Harden, Oneda Horn and Jenny Kaven. She is survived by siblings Maggie Stults, Jack Harden and Jody Harden-Davis, and many nieces and nephews.   

Izzie made her home in Chatham, where she lived for more than 40 years.  Izzie was a dynamic and successful business owner -- the proprietor of Jacobs’ Hardware Store and Around the Block Tavern in Chatham and Glenarm, respectively. In 2016, Izzie retired from a long career with the State of Illinois where she worked as an administrative assistant for the Illinois Appellate Prosecutor’s Office.

Izzie’s proudest accomplishment was raising her children, Karen, Barry and Keith who, along with her granddaughter, Sara, survive her. 

Izzie was kind and gregarious, a caretaker of many and a great friend.  Her family and friends will miss her tenacity, strong work ethic and her zest for life.  Izzie was one of a kind.
