Laura Jannette Johnson 1927-2022

Jannette Johnson of Springfield, died November 22, 2022.

Jannette was born on February 5, 1927 in Shaw’s Point IL, the second daughter of Truman Allen Barnett and Grace Armour Barnett. She married James O Johnson on September 11, 1950 in Carlinville IL.

In 1943 Jannette graduated from Carlinville High School, and after graduation worked at the Litchfield Area Hospital until she was able to enroll at St. Johns School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse and member of the Cadet Nursing Corps in 1947.  She worked at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. In retirement, Jannette enjoyed traveling, tending her yard, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Grace, her husband James; her four sisters, Betty Eichen, Marie Eichen, Ella Louise Barnett, Helen Rich, and her daughter Pamela Jean Ramirez.  

Jannette is survived by her sons, James (Sandra) Johnson of Carlinville, Edward (Mary) Johnson of Rochester, and Randall (Else) Johnson of Scottsdale AZ, and brother in law Charles Eichen. Her nine grandchildren who affectionately called her ‘Nanny’, Jennifer (Steve) Mosby, Andrew (Kacie) Johnson, Elizabeth (Bradley) Shade, Benjamyn (Carol) Johnson, Daniel (Amber) Johnson, Rachel Ramirez, Chase Ramirez, Scot (Sydney) Johnson,  Sanna (Francis) Johnson, and ten great-children, Alexia Mosby, Brendan Mosbly, Jamar Butler, Manny Ramirez, Maple Ramirez, Antony Johnson, Luca Johnson, Cora Shade, Silas Johnson, Fjor Johnson, with more to come ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be provided by Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
